When the word "gardening" is mentioned, the mind tends to immediately thing of flowers, and flower gardening. Flowers and gardens are sort of like peanut butter and jelly - at least in the minds of most people. While flower gardening is only one type of gardening, it can be very rewarding, and is a very popular way to relax. The following paragraphs will discuss flower gardening, as well provide some helpful tips for anyone trying to grow flower gardens.

While most people tend to think flower gardening is only for the warmer months of the year, they are mistaken. Planting successful flower gardens is most likely when careful thought and planning have been put into the garden. If genuine thought and planning are put into flower gardens, it is more likely your garden will be filled with a large abundance of flowers for a longer amount of time.
For example, most spring flowers are grown from bulbs and come back from year to year. If you want to have spring flowers in your garden, you need to put some thought into it around fall time. This is when the bulbs for your spring flowers need to be planted. So, when summer ends, it is not a bad idea to start planning where you may like to plant some new bulbs, so you'll have some beautiful flowers come springtime. These spring flowers include:
- tulips
- crocuses
- snowballs
- lilies
Flower gardening takes a lot of planning. To maintain the most beautiful flower gardens around, careful thought and planning may be necessary all year round.
To most gardeners, the planning process of flower gardening becomes much more interesting in the summertime. Now is when flower gardening really becomes a task. Not only are there tons of different types of flowers to choose from for planting, but the flowers must be watered, and maintained. By pulling off all the dead from your flowers, while keeping the weeds pulled from your flower beds, you are actually increasing bloom production and keeping your flower beds in optimal condition.
When autumn arrives, and most of your flowers are dying out, flower gardening still takes a lot of thought and planning. During the autumn months, there are a few varieties of flowers you can add to flower gardens including mums. Mums are very attractive fall flowers, and come in many colors. They are hearty flowers, and thrive in the cooler months. A helpful flower garden tip, in regards to mums is when they are done for the season, cut them flush with the ground. The following autumn, your mums should come back in full force, just like your spring flower you planted from a bulb.
Flower gardening is no longer just an entertaining hobby, but it is also a fine art! By putting a lot of time and effort into your flower gardening hobby, you will master the fine art in no time flat!
