There are several things that truly make planting a rose garden fun. First of all, there are all of the possible ways that you can plant those roses. Would you prefer to have rose bushes that you can trim once in a while? Perhaps you would like the option of having the roses climb up a trellis or two?
Also, you have the benefit of choosing fro ma variety of different rose plants and colors. While red is the most popular color that people choose when planting a rose garden, you can also choose pink, yellow, or perhaps white roses. Rose can come in the form of bushes, or even rose trees!
The Cons of Planting a Rose Garden
As beautiful as roses are, you should be aware of the cons of planting a rose garden as well. It should be noted, however, that these cons really only apply to people who want to do their own gardening, but at the same time have a busy schedule.
The thing to know is that roses, in order to fully bloom, need a significant amount of care. When you purchase roses, you probably also get some rose food to go with it. This rose food is necessary to maintain a healthy plant – water alone will not be sufficient.
Another thing that you should know before planting a rose garden is that you will have to take steps to protect the roses if you want them to bloom again after the winter. For example, you might need to completely trim the roses and cover them against the cold.
This leads to another con of planting a rose garden: the pruning. Roses, if they are thriving, will have to be pruned on a fairly regular basis. However, roses have unique qualities, in that their stems are tough and thick, and of course there are the thorns. Thus, be sure that you have the proper pruning materials for your safety!
