A water fountain in your garden pond lends a touch of elegance. Garden pond fountains also get much needed oxygen into the pond to aid in the filtration of the water and keep pond fish healthy. Garden pond fountains aerate the water and drastically improve the quality of the water in the pond. This helps to reduce odors, avoid very rapid algae growth and to maintain a balanced ecosystem within a garden fountain pond.
You can add a touch of elegance to your garden pond with a fountain. Though, with a fountain, you can still keep fish such as goldfish, Koi and Golden Orfe. Japanese garden pond fountains are usually available in beautifully crafted and decorated ceramic. You can pick up self-contained water basins that don’t even need any outside water source. It is very essential to have a high quality electric pump so that the water circulates from inside the basin, thereby causing it to bubble up and overflow. These fountains are ideal for hotel courtyards, gardens, or even homes.

Types Of Fountains And Spray Shapes
Many different types of garden pond fountains are available. Sometimes fountains for certain applications are called pond aerators or water aerators. These, as mentioned before, add much needed oxygen to the water. Other types of fountains for garden fountains are for looks only. They don’t aid to the maintenance of the water, but add to the look of the yard or setting. These are widely available and are usually not much harder to maintain than other fountains. They can be a wonderful addition to a yard or garden. One of the most important things to remember when building your garden fountain pond is that the fountain spray should not be greater than one-half of the width of the garden pond to prevent too much water loss.
Garden fountain pond spray shapes such as the bell fountain and tulip fountain are the best choices for open and windy areas. Daisy or tiered garden fountain pond spray shapes are very popular also, but require a little more maintenance and can contribute to significant water loss on windy days. Bubblers are the simplest and most maintenance free garden fountain pond spray shapes, but need a stronger fountain pump to make it look attractive. The fountain spray should be matched to the fountain pump to ensure proper water distribution. Many pumps are available that include the proper fountainhead.
