Echo Saw Review - What You Need To Know About Echo Chainsaws

July 21st, 2008 · No Comments

There is little doubt Echo deserves to be right up there when discussing top chainsaw brands. While it has a reputation for producing saws geared for the budget conscious don’t be fooled that this could be less quality.

Far from it. In fact, quality is what any Echo review will highlight about these machines. They are noted for there toughness and reliability and it’s hard to argue with that assessment.

As we mentioned, they cater very well for the homeowner and semi professional but with machines such as the CS-670, they haven’t forgotten those who need to tackle bigger jobs.

Price is another big plus for Echo. Consider this, why buy a real budget model at a big store which could present warranty issues when you can buy from an Echo dealer and know you have somewhere to “hang your hat” if anything goes wrong.

In other words, for less than a couple of hundred bucks for one of Echo’s smaller machines, you’ll very rarely need to worry about any warranty issues.

3 Of Echo’s Best Buys

Let’s take a look at three of the Echo range of chainsaws. Each of the following has it’s own features but the bottom line is, they all have the famous Echo toughness and reliability factor.

Echo’s CS-306 is ideal for the homeowner who needs to take care of those smaller jobs around the home. With a price tag of around $200 it’s right up their with the best value small chainsaws on the market and should be considered when conducting an Echo review.

The CS-306 comes with a standard 14 inch bar and chain and features an excellent anti-vibration system. Safety features are paramount in chainsaws and the CS-306 doesn’t skimp on these.

Still in the smaller range, the Echo CS-346 is a lightweight saw at around 7.5 pounds and while a little bigger than the 306, it is also great for work around the house such as trimming and cutting firewood. At under $300, it is also in the excellent value range and compares exceptionally to the smaller models put out by Stihl and Husqvarna.

Again, the big feature with the CS-346 is power and reliability. It comes with a standard 16 inch bar and chain and will handle many of the tougher jobs around the home.

Echo’s CS-670 is popular as a felling saw and for good reason. It is a little ball of muscle and power and there are not to many tough or bigger jobs it won’t handle. In other words, it will cut through just about anything without too much effort.

And that’s important when considering safety. Once you start to exert pressure on a saw which is struggling then you increase the risk of getting hurt. The CS-670 handles these jobs easily. It comes with a standard 24 inch bar and chain and is all about power and reliability. And it’s price tag makes a lot of similar saws on the market look a little ordinary.

The CS-670 can be bought for between $400-$600 depending on where you shop and is worth every cent and more. A definite inclusion in any Echo review.
