Drip irrigation, also called trickle irrigation is a method of supplying water which facilitates minimum supply of water to nourish garden plants and vegetations. This irrigation system supplies adequate level of water to drip very slowly to the roots of plants through a fine network of tubing, emitters, valves and pipes.

Drip irrigation is very expensive watering system, but it offers the best results in supplying water to plant roots with least losses. A close study of the factors such as soil, water, land topography, crop and agro-climatic conditions can be useful in determining the suitable choice of the installation of drip irrigation system. This irrigation method can be most effective to the area with sloping or uneven land and with dry climate.
